Well, the level of streaming media to people's offices had meant our link stats have been affected with some congestion from around 1pm to 5pm today. The system handles this well and manages it fairly with VoIP working well, but obviously we would rather have no congestion. As is common with such events BT also struggle quite separately with at least one region being congested in their back-haul network.

Also, BT have cancelled all planned works tonight due to the issues.

    We live in interesting times.

    Statement from BT:-

Official comms from BT on the situation in London and beyond:

Following the serious civil disturbance in parts of London and
other cities in the UK, BT continues to provide a normal service
    across the country.

There has been some minor damage to our network and we will
restore service as quickly as it is safe to do so.

We would like to advise customers however that some local
disruption is likely where risks to our people are too great or the
police or fire authorities will not allow us access. In addition,
work at night in parts of London and in a number of city centres
is likely to be severely restricted until law and order is fully
restored. Providing excellent customer service continues to be a top
    priority.
