At 15:34 one of our ports to the LINX internet exchange went down. This would have caused a few minutes of connectivity problems whilst traffic was re-routed. We're investigating.
Traffic moved over to our other LINX port, and we're investigating further.
The port is back up, and traffic is back to normal. We're investigating the cause of this with LINX staff at the moment.
LINX staff onsite say: "there is a bend in the wire that may have caused the issue. We can have the engineer swap the fibre but this may cause a flap on your port once again."
In light of this, we will be taking our LINX port down again, now, so that the cable can be replaced.
LINX traffic on this port has now been drained, and we'll await LINX staff to swap their cable and report back before we bring it back in to service.
At this point the only customer impact was with the initial drop at 15:34.
LINX will be changing their cable shortly.
LINX have completed their work and we are bringing back the connectivity.
Traffic has been restored.
Initial routing blip lasted just over a minute affecting some internet sites that we connect to over the LINX exchange point. This was caused by one of our LINX ports going down abruptly. Upon investigation by LINX staff this seems to have been caused by a bend on a fibre at the LINX end. LINX staff have replaced this cable.
