A number of customers were affected by an email authentication problem this afternoon. The problem was not widespread. It appears to have started around 14:45, and gradually affected more customers until it was fixed at around 18:45. It affected authentication at the beginning of a mail session, so it was possible to have a device that connected before the problem started continue to work throughout even though new logins were broken for the same account.
