TalkTalk have had some core network problems and we've see a small number of lines reconnects today at 8:30, 11:15 and 11:19 and 11:38 (and further ones). NOTE: This will be affecting other ISPs who use TalkTalk Wholesale services.
TalkTalk are aware of this and are investigating.
TalkTalk say: Our initial analysis shows the issue is impacting service across the country. We're currently working through the impact and issue and will look to provide more detail as soon as we have it.
This looks to be caused by a fault fibre somewhere in TalkTalk's network. Traffic does get re-routed, and TalkTalk are still investigating this with the fibre provider.
TalkTalk are still having problems which has been affecting a small number of customers. The latest update: "We continue to see short loss of traffic on the core link, while the provide is fixing the cable break, Its likely that this will continue over the cause of the day unfortunately."
From TalkTalk: "We have spoken to our 3rd party dark fibre provider who are still investigating the issue. To alleviate the problem our core engineering team are currently temporarily shutting down the affected core links to prevent any issues while the 3rd party are trying to fix the fault."
There was one drop overnight - 05:33. TalkTalk say "[we] have almost completed all the works required, so hopefully we won't see to much more impact now."
We saw a small number of circuits drop at 22:21 on 16b November. We've asked TalkTalk if this is related to the same fibre fault that this post is related to.
Regarding the drop on Thursday evening: TalkTalk say "Customers' connectivity intermittently dropped and self-recovered. Suspect our 3rd-party supplier, disturbed fibres while working on a separate incident."
TalkTalk believe this fault is fixed, and are monitoring.
