Some of our CityFibre connected services in Glasgow dropped their PPP at 10:31 and since have had around 60% packet loss. We assume a broken fibre within the CityFibre network. We are reporting this to CityFibre
CityFibre have raised an incident and are investigating.
It may be too early to tell, but at the moment the affected circuits in Glasgow are looking better....
Even though services are working OK, the initial faulty cable is being repaired. From CityFibre: The Major Incident Team have identified the cause of the incident as as damage to the fibre, resulting from ongoing civil works in the area and are currently working to restore the services. The team is currently on-site and have identified that the cable needs replacing. Cabling and splicing teams and CityFibre’s Field Service Supervisor are en-route.
CityFibre circuits in the west and north of Scotland area suffered packet loss again between 17:30 and 20:00. This was related to the re-joining of the core fibres that were broken earlier today. CityFibre report at 19:50 teh following: Following the successful transition of one of the three core fibre links into the newly installed joint, we can confirm that all services associated with this link have now been fully restored. Our on-site teams are now progressing with the restoration of the remaining two core links to bring all other affected services back online.
And... packetloss has returned from 20:30. We suspect this is due to the repair work that is still taking place on broken core fibres.
CityFibre is pleased to confirm that the issue was resolved at 21:46 on 13/05/2025. Multiple core links were affected across Glasgow, Inverness, and Aberdeen, resulting in disruption to a number of our services.
