We're investigating a drop of BT services.
One of our BT hostlinks has lost light to BT. Affected lines are reconnecting.
This was the same fibre that dropped last month - https://aastatus.net/42798 which was a faulty card at BTs side, which was replaced. We're in contact with BT about today's drop.
This was a problem with BTs side. We are awaiting further information, but their latest update is: ‘Service fully restored at 17:35 after a remote hardware reset was performed. A period of stability monitoring will now take place and the incident will remain open during this period.’
We saw further drops around 18:38. We're chasing BT.
BT say 'A network card locked up and was hard reset' - though we suspect it was more than just a single lockup, as we saw multiple port flaps.... The case is still open with BT and we await further updates.
Our links remain stable - latest update from BT is: 'We have identified an issue within our network and our transmission team are working to resolve the issue asap.'
BT say: the service is now stable but they are going to swap out a transmission network card in Hanbury exchange, so you will see service drop during the Emergency PEW window between 00:01 to 06:00 on the 17/12/2025.
Due to BT's emergency work, we have taken this link out of service until the morning.
BT's Emergency work did not go ahead due to access issues at the data centre. We're awaiting further updates.
Despite the BT not carrying out their overnight emergency work, the link was stable overnight, so we re-enabled it earlier - only to then experience further drops which affected a small number of customers! The link is now out of service and will be kept out of service until we get the 'all clear' from BT.
The link will remain out of service until BT confirm they have fixed their end, which is likely to be in the new year. Services are working without problem on our remaining links.
